OSHA inspectors will focus hospital and nursing facility inspections on several hazards that contribute to high employee injury rates, including musculoskeletal disorders and workplace violence.

The House and Senate Appropriations Committees passed separate funding legislation that would cut OSHA’s budget by as much as 5 percent.

Notable proposed fines

$38,000 to a Delaware poultry plant for violating the General Duty Clause stemming from musculoskeletal injuries suffered by employees on the debone line

The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs – part of the White House’s Office of Management and Budget – reviews proposed regulations. The process is required for most rules before they can move forward, and typically takes 90 days.
